Health Services for Older Australians: Finding the Right Support

Maintaining health and independence in later life often requires a team of specialists working together. Understanding which health professional does what helps older Australians and their families navigate the system.

The Senior Health Team

Medicare-Funded Allied Health

Older Australians with a chronic condition may be eligible for a GP Management Plan and Team Care Arrangement, providing up to 5 Medicare-subsidised allied health visits per year. Ask your GP about eligibility.

Hearing Services Program

The Australian Government's Hearing Services Program provides eligible older Australians with subsidised hearing assessments and hearing aids. Eligibility includes Centrelink pensioners, DVA card holders and others. Apply through Hearing Australia or an approved provider.
