Home Care Packages in Australia: What You Need to Know
The Australian Government funds home care through four package levels, each with a different annual budget. As of November 2025, these have transitioned to the Support at Home program.
Management Fees — The Hidden Cost
Providers charge a management or administration fee from your package budget before spending anything on care. These range from 15% to 35%+ of the total package value. Comparing management fees between providers can free up significantly more budget for actual care.
How to Get Assessed
Contact My Aged Care (1800 200 422 or myagedcare.gov.au) to request an assessment. A trained assessor will visit you at home to assess your needs and recommend a package level.
Package values are approximate and based on 2025 data. Actual values may differ under the Support at Home program. Verify current rates at myagedcare.gov.au.
